A Cornish Homecoming

JOURNEYING – DESTINATION THWARTED I

We were on our way to London
To watch a rugby game
But the motorway was closing
And we were in the middle lane

No time to take an exit
We were stuck with other folks
For two hours we were patient
Sharing tales and telling jokes

We made it to Clark’s Village
To spend our money, see what’s new
We shopped alongside family
As Freya’s wildest dream came true

In convoy we still journeyed
Past Stonehenge  and fields of corn
Despite some weather warnings
We saw a rainbow but no storm

We had reached our destination
Close to Heathrow’s where we stayed
No ‘plane noise to disturb us
We had arrived, a tad delayed

Our best laid plans were waiting
To be fulfilled another day
Our adventures were beginning
It would be a memorable stay
